Q-Tech at ISH Frankfurt 2025: what’s new in R290 heat pumps, water hygiene and connected climate control

On 19 and 20 March 2025, Q-Tech visited ISH in Frankfurt (Germany), invited by GF. Messe Frankfurt describes it as the world’s leading trade fair for HVAC + Water. According to the organiser, it brought together 2,183 exhibitors from 55 countries and 163,237 visitors from 149 countries.

Three ideas sum up the fair: heat pumps with R290, hot water hygiene and connected climate control.

30-second summary

• Fair: ISH 2025, from 17 to 21 March, at Messe Frankfurt. The next edition will take place from 15 to 19 March 2027.
• Heat pumps: Buderus, Bosch, Daikin, Panasonic and Wolf showed heat pumps with R290, a natural refrigerant.
• Water: GF, Uponor, BWT and Resideo presented solutions for domestic hot water and drinking water.

The 8 solution fields of ISH 2025

For the first time, Messe Frankfurt organised the fair into eight solution fields. Each one brings together the exhibitors from one area of building services and the building.

• Bathrooms: private, public and industrial bathrooms, care sector bathrooms, bathroom installation and the spas, pools and wellness area.
• Water-bearing systems: drinking water circuit, heating circuit, building drainage, rainwater and process water use, and green roofs and facades.
• Installation: tools and fastening, industrial pre-assembly, and operating, storage and transport.
• Heat generation: electricity-based, biomass, gas and liquid-fuel heating, and local and district heating.
• Indoor air: ventilation and air conditioning for homes, non-residential buildings, retail, data centres, industrial processes, schools and hospitals.
• Intelligent building management: smart home, energy management, building automation and maintenance.
• Software: office and building management, and planning for new and existing buildings.
• Sanitary and HVAC production: raw materials, OEMs, components for heat generation, sanitary products, refrigeration, ventilation, air conditioning and building automation, and services.

Industrial pre-assembly had its own space within Installation. It is the same approach behind our pre-assembled plant rooms.

Heat pumps with R290

Buderus Logatherm WLW376: premiere at ISH 2025

Buderus presented its Logatherm WLW376 air-to-water heat pump for the first time at ISH 2025. Buderus states that it uses R290 and delivers 30 to 61 kW at -7 °C outdoors with a 35 °C flow temperature.

According to Buderus, it reaches flow temperatures of up to 75 °C and an SCOP of up to 4.6. Buderus planned its market launch for autumn 2025. It suits apartment buildings, hotels and commercial buildings.

Bosch Compress 5001 AW

Bosch presented the Compress 5001 AW at ISH 2025, with R290 and outputs of 20 or 40 kW. Bosch states a 70 °C flow temperature and cascades of up to 4 units and 160 kW. According to Bosch, it has been available since May 2026.

Daikin Altherma 4 H

Daikin set up a 1,000 m² stand. According to Daikin, its Altherma 4 H heat pump uses R290 and covers 6 to 14 kW.

Daikin states domestic hot water up to 75 °C, operation down to -28 °C and an A+++ rating at 35 and 55 °C. For ISH 2025 it announced 4, 6 and 7 kW sizes for new homes.

Panasonic Aquarea: M series and Aquarea Loop

Panasonic showed the Aquarea M series with R290 and tado° control. According to Panasonic, this combination cuts heating costs by up to 22%.

Panasonic states that its T-CAP range maintains its output down to -20 °C. According to Panasonic, the T-CAP M can be cascaded up to 10 units and 300 kW. It also presented Aquarea Loop, with R290, for apartment buildings with a central water loop at 20 to 30 °C.

Wolf, Viessmann and Domusa

• Wolf: brought the CHA-Monoblock heat pump with R290. Wolf states up to 100 kW in cascade.
• Viessmann: shared the “Power Play as One Team” stand with Carrier, Riello and Beretta. It exhibited the Vitocal 250-A Pro, 20 to 40 kW according to Viessmann, for apartment buildings and small commercial applications.
• Domusa Teknik: showed an indoor heat pump and an air-to-water monobloc unit that, according to Domusa, is rated A+++ at 55 °C. Our shop stocks the Domusa Dual Clima R.

Hot water and water hygiene

GF Hycleen Balance

GF presented the GF Hycleen Balance digital valve for ISH 2025. According to GF, it distributes and documents the domestic hot water flow based on stagnation time and temperature.

GF states plug & play commissioning, operation from a smartphone and integration into the building management system. Q-Tech already works with GF Hycleen and its Automation System.

Uponor Combi Port E-Hybrid

Uponor brought the Combi Port E-Hybrid dwelling station. It produces hot water on demand in each home, and GF states that this keeps stagnation to a minimum. According to GF, it delivers 15 litres per minute, compared with 9 for a standard station.

BWT and Resideo

• BWT: presented One Pipe Power Pearlwater. According to BWT, it carries softened water through a single pipe to the whole building and remineralises it in the kitchen.
• Resideo (Honeywell Home): showed a range of lead-free water filters for Europe: HS10S, F74CS, FK74CS and F76S.

Connected climate, underfloor heating and plant rooms

Uponor Smatrix with AI and Siccus 16

According to Uponor, Smatrix control with AI predicts, adapts and optimises according to the weather, each room and user preferences. It connects in the cloud to leading heat pump models, with no additional hardware.

Our shop stocks the Uponor Smatrix Pulse R-208 with Smatrix AI. Q-Tech is an Official Uponor Service Centre in Málaga.

Uponor also brought Siccus 16, a dry underfloor heating system with a 20 mm build height. Uponor states up to 40% faster installation and heat within 20 minutes. The floor covering, such as tiles, goes directly on the panel.

tado°, Jaga, ESBE and Wilo

• tado°: at ISH 2025, Panasonic announced a €30 million equity investment in tado°. Q-Tech sells tado° smart thermostats.
• Jaga: exhibited Briza Net Zero radiators, which according to Jaga heat and cool with a heat pump.
• ESBE: showed ARA actuators and SLx linear units designed to work with A3 refrigerants, such as R290. It also showed the compact VRB340 valve for hybrid systems.
• Wilo: presented the Wilo-Atmos PICO circulator, with energy savings of up to 80% according to Wilo. Our shop stocks Wilo circulators.

The conference: energy renovation of buildings

On Thursday 20 March we attended the Building Future Conference, in the Portalhaus at Messe Frankfurt. That day focused on the real estate sector and the energy renovation of existing buildings.

The conference was organised by Messe Frankfurt with the German associations BDH, FGK, VdZ and ZVSHK.

Frequently asked questions

What is ISH?

ISH is Messe Frankfurt’s trade fair for heating, air conditioning, ventilation, water and bathrooms. It is held every two years in Frankfurt (Germany). The next edition will take place from 15 to 19 March 2027.

Why do so many heat pumps use R290?

R290 is refrigerant-grade propane, a natural class A3 refrigerant. Panasonic attributes a GWP of 0.02 to it. Because it is flammable, it must be handled by qualified professionals with suitable components, such as those shown by ESBE.

Can a heat pump replace a boiler with radiators?

It depends on the installation. Several heat pumps at ISH 2025 reach flow temperatures of 70 or 75 °C, according to their manufacturers. Before replacing a boiler, it is worth checking the radiators, the insulation and the required output.

How does Q-Tech work with heat pumps?

Q-Tech integrates, connects, configures and commissions heat pumps. It also delivers them in a pre-assembled plant room: assembled, wired and tested at our workshop, ready to connect on site. Certification is carried out by a partner installer.
