How to choose your UniFi switch
- By PoE budget: add up the consumption stated on each access point and camera page, and leave headroom.
- By speed: for 10 GbE WiFi 7 access points, choose Pro XG or Enterprise Campus; for 2.5 GbE, Pro Max or Flex 2.5G.
- By location: the Flex 2.5G fits a desk or home cabinet; the Industrial DIN models go in an electrical panel with a separate DC supply. The console that manages them is in UniFi Gateways.

- Office, hotel and campus: Pro Max and Pro XG in a rack on each floor; Enterprise Campus with 25G links at the core.

Frequently asked questions
Do UniFi switches work without a console?
Not for management: they are adopted and configured from a UniFi console (gateway or CloudKey).
What are PoE++ and PoE+++?
They are levels of power delivered over the network cable; the higher the level, the more power per port for devices such as PTZ cameras or high-end access points.
Which switch goes in an electrical panel?
The Industrial DIN models: they mount on a DIN rail, accept two DC supplies for redundancy and operate from −30 to 70 °C, according to Ubiquiti.
