A smart thermostatic head is an actuator that screws onto the radiator valve and controls the temperature of each room from your phone. Q-Tech brings together Shelly's climate devices here: the BLU TRV head, its room sensors and the gateway that connects them to Wi-Fi. It is part of Shelly Control.

How to choose
- Gateway: a Shelly Pro relay acts as a cloud gateway for the standalone head; for local control, or if you are starting from scratch, choose the BLU TRV 2-pack or Starter Kit, which include the BLU Gateway Gen3.
- Head sensor: for the BLU TRV to regulate on the temperature in the middle of the room, the compatible sensor is the BLU H&T Display ZB; the H&T Gen3 is a standalone Wi-Fi sensor.
- Valve: the BLU TRV screws directly onto M30 × 1.5; other brands need an adapter. For underfloor heating with a manifold or boiler control, see Thermostats and Control.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a gateway?
To use BLU devices from the app, yes: the BLU Gateway Gen3 or a Shelly Pro relay. The H&T Gen3 does not need one because it is Wi-Fi.
Which sensor do I use with the BLU TRV?
The Shelly BLU H&T Display ZB, which Shelly lists among the head's external sensors.
