The Nest Stand is an optional thermostat accessory sold separately. It allows you to place your Nest Thermostat on a shelf, table, or desk, though it will still need to be positioned where it can wirelessly connect to Heat Link.
The Nest Thermostat is designed to stay in one place, so you need to think carefully about where you want to place it. It should be somewhere where it can communicate wirelessly with Heat Link (up to 30m away). The construction and layout of your home will affect the communication range.
Where to install the Nest stand
- The Nest stand must be placed near a power outlet as it needs to be plugged in.
- Place the thermostat in a room you use frequently. For features like Home/Away Assist to work properly, make sure it has good visibility into the room.
- Nest Thermostat features, such as Distance View, work best when the Nest Stand is placed about 1 meter (3 feet) off the floor.
- The thermostat measures the temperature in your home to decide when to turn on the heating. Avoid placing the thermostat in hot or cold areas, such as fireplaces or drafty windows, to avoid overheating or underheating your home.
- Make sure the Wi-Fi signal reaches the place where you place the thermostat. Do not install it near other electronic devices or appliances that may interfere with the connection.
- After choosing where to place the Nest mount, install the thermostat. Make sure you choose a good location by checking that the connection to Wi-Fi and Heat Link is good.
