Oxidation is a process in which a molecule or ion loses electrons. This happens very easily in water treatments as well as in the maintenance of swimming pools and spas where an oxidant such as chlorine is added to the water to destroy contaminants. The more positive the ORP value, the greater the sterilization power of the water.

The ORP Tester can provide valuable information on water quality.
