The Nest Stand is an optional thermostat accessory sold separately. It allows you to place the Nest Thermostat on a shelf, table, or desk, although it will still need to be placed where it can wirelessly connect to the Heat Link.
The Nest Thermostat is designed to stay in one place, so you should consider where you want to place it. It should be located where it can communicate wirelessly with the Heat Link (up to 30 m away). The construction and layout of your home will affect the communication range.
Where to install the Nest stand
- The Nest stand should be placed near a power outlet, as it needs to be plugged in.
- Place the thermostat in a room you use frequently. For features like Home/Away Assist to work well, make sure it has a good view of the room.
- Nest Thermostat features, such as Far View, work best when the Nest Stand is placed about 1 meter off the floor.
- The thermostat measures your home's temperature to decide when to turn on the heating. Avoid placing the thermostat in hot or cold areas, such as fireplaces or drafty windows, to prevent your home from becoming too hot or too cold.
- Make sure the Wi-Fi network signal is strong enough to reach where you place the thermostat. Don't install it near other electronic devices or appliances that could interfere with the connection.
- After choosing a location for the Nest stand, install the thermostat. Make sure you choose a good location. To do this, check that the connection to your Wi-Fi network and the Heat Link is good.
